Times have changed. My mum was educated in Wales under the strict Brit system. We moved to Canada post WW2 & all of us could read, print, math etc before puplic school. My younger brother was bored to death in grade1 (he always carried a big dictionary around, after school) so he could be a handful but his Jamaican teacher (again Brit Rules) beat on him with a ruler, regularly, instead of teaching him at his level. He never complained but one day she left some minor cuts on his hands. Mum questioned him & found out it was SOP. She walked to the school & laid a Welsh Rules licking on the teacher with a yardstick. That resolved any issues. The teacher transferred a couple weeks later.

👍Thank you for your post, your approach is a far more practical path these days. I don't know if younger people can appreciate how much society & education has changed. Canadian students are getting more informed & standing up for their rights as they've already experienced losing them during lockdowns, masking, forced vaxs. Some are even getting criminally charged by the schools for their opinions & beliefs.
